Alexandra Exter is an outstanding avant-garde artist of the world who has lived in Kyiv for more than 35 years. Here Alexandra graduated from the gymnasium of St. Olga, studied at the Kyiv Art School, married Mykola Exter and lived with her husband and parents at 1 Gymnasium Street (now Leontovycha). Khvostenko-Khvostov, Isaak Rabinovych, Kliment Redko and others. Alexandra Exter and her Studio had a powerful influence on the creative life of the city. Together with Oleksandr Bohomazov, Exter organized exhibitions of new art in Kyiv - the famous "Ring" and "Lanka", which were among the first in the then empire. Anna Akhmatova wrote that all left-wing artists in Kyiv left her studio, and researchers claim that the avant-garde line of Ukrainian scenography originates in the Alexandra Exter Theater.
