The edition consists of three parts. The first part presents an outline of major tendencies and stages in historical development of administrative, territorial and national organization of the Northern-Caucasian Region. The second part presents a review of these tendencies and stages in cartographic way: nineteen colorful maps show basic changes in ethno-territorial, national-administrative composition of the region during the last two hundred years (1780-1995). The third part of the book is devoted to the analysis of current ethno-territorial contradictions in the Northern-Caucasian Region.
