Nikola Stoyanov left his imprint on various aspects of the political and social development of new Bulgaria. Born in Dojran, dedicated to the national ideal, holding university degrees in mathematics, physics and astronomy, an authoritative economist and financier, long-serving director of the Directorate for Government and Government-Guaranteed Debt, a public figure engaged in a variety of causes, and president of the Macedonian Research Institute, the Yunak Union and the Press Union - Stoyanov was one of the major figures of his time. The present book is, at once, a work of documentary prose, a personal account of events, and a study on Stoyanov's role in modern Bulgarian history.
