The publication is based on the "Encyclopaedic Dictionary of the Czech Language" (2002), but the new edition far exceeds its predecessor in terms of the volume and form of the articles. Articles of the previous vocabulary were updated and expanded, the number of articles increased significantly - the new dictionary contains about 1600 articles devoted to 5000 linguistic terms. The authors of the articles were 190 linguists, including foreign ones.
