This is Part 1 of the diaries of Nedyalko Yordanov (born 1940), one of Bulgaria's most popular poets and playwrights. The diaries will be published in a total of three parts. Yordanov wrote them during his school and university years. The first book features the full content of three notebooks in which the young man put down his thoughts between the age of 16 and 19. It also includes his wonderful early poems, many of which have not been published before. Readers will see Yordanov in his last year at school, when he had his first big love affair that had a lasting impact on him. They will learn about the love and trust which existed in his family and about his special relationship with his favorite teacher, who helped him through the vicissitudes of growing up. The book also highlights the difficult choice which the young man had to make between pursuing a diplomatic career and staying true to himself by becoming a writer.
