The monograph examines the work of the famous Russian painter N. K. Roerich in the context of historical events that took place in Sortavala in 1918, where the artist lived. The question is raised about the purpose of art in an extreme political situation, about the relationship of cultural figures from different countries in the most difficult periods of history.
