The book is devoted to complicated aspects and problems of religious life of barbarian, Greek and Greco-barbarian population of Scythia and North Pontic states (Olbia, Chersonesus and Bosporus). Being the first comprehensive study on this subject, the book contains extensive archaeological material and evidence from written sources. The analysis of the material is based on numerous data from comparative studies of religion, mythology, ethnology, psychology and linguistics. Attention is focused on the problem of Greco-barbarian contacts in the religious sphere. Many particular features of religious beliefs and cults of the population of Greek colonies in North Pontic area were caused by the influence of barbarian environment.
