The Montenegrin Bank was founded in 1906 in Cetinje with the intention of becoming the central monetary institution of Montenegro. It contributed to the development of other monetary institutions by bringing in cheaper capital, maintaining connections between the existing monetary institutions (Niksic and Podgorica), and foreign markets and monetary institutions.
Based on the preserved, but unorganized archival materials, which are in the State Archives of Montenegro, we have attempted to tell the history of the Montenegrin Bank viewed through the prism of an impartial observer.
