Memoirs of Evgeny Petrov about his co-author Ilia Il'f. The two outstanding Soviet satirists of the early XXth century are considered to be the classics and founders of the Soviet satire genre. The work is based on Petrov's personal archive, as well as materials provided by Alexandra Il'f, the writer's daughter. The book has been published for the first time though its draft appeared shortly after Il'f's death in 1939.
