Viliam Korinek was one of the first important Slovak violin pedagogues and the first codifier of the methodology of violin playing. He was concerned not only with the achievement of craftsmanship through systematic and persistent practice, but also appealed to the development of the pupil's artistic personality. Korinek originally intended his Methodology of Violin Playing to be a textbook for 5th grade students in conservatories. To this day, however, it is the only work in Slovakia that gives a comprehensive view of the subject.
