The first issue of the edition presents the memoirs of the German Professor K. D. von Rommel. His memoirs are devoted to the description of his life, his trips around the world, his activity during the end of the XVIII-the beginning of the XIXth century. Besides, the author worked at Kharkiv University during 1811-1814. His impressions about Russia and Ukraine of that time form the basis of the book.
