The Processes of Civil Society Formation in the Mid-19th Century created the conditions for the organization of the first medical unions: in 1845 the Association of Practitioners of Lviv was established, in 1867 - the Society of Galician Doctors. In the late 19th - early 20th centuries. in Lviv a number of medical associations of various directions were created and operated. Their organizational and research work has been decisive for the development of Galicia's medicine for at least seven decades. The book introduces the activities of medical unions, mainly the Society of Galician Physicians, and biographies of Lviv doctors in the mid-19th - early 20th centuries, each of whom was an interesting figure as a personality and specialist.
