The monograph sheds light on the most early and interesting period of Scythian history - foundation of Scythian culture in Black Sea Region and pre-Caucasus. The analysis of works by jewelers of the Middle East, found in burial mounds, allows to define the relationship of Scythians with peoples of Old East, to explain the appearance of some traits of Scythian art - the so-called "feral style", to specify the chronology of several Scythian complexes. The author studies in detail the discoveries found in Kostroma, Lit and Kelermess burial mounds, that became original emblems of Scythia - gold metal plates in the form of a deer and a panther, iron swords and pole-axes with gold.
