He was a talented military leader and a prudent politician. During 10 years he was governing the huge Red Army. The USSR marshal Rodion Malinovsky went a thorny way from a Russian corps soldier, fighting in France during World War I, to an all-power USSR Minister of Defense.
During World War II he was in command of armies and fronts. He created and realized the best attacks of the Red Army, such as Odessa and Yasso-Kishinev operations. His troops occupied Budapest. However Malinovsky had always lived in the shadow of Zhukov and Rokossovsky. Probably that was the reason for his not having left any memoirs. The present book is the first deep biography of that brilliant soviet commander.
