The book is devoted to the approaching millennium jubilee in the commemoration of the name of Lithuania. Its main objective is to outline the road of Lithuanian ethnos that brought the country to the threshold of statehood. While searching the roots of the phenomenon, primarily, archeological sources were used for reference, major attention being focused on the New Iron Age (A. D. IXth - XIIth centuries). The monograph includes a lot of factual data, drawings and photographs from the places of digs.
