Nikola Georgiev strips the routine of its conventionality and uses a vast set of rhetorical tools, ranging from bitter sarcasm and subtle irony to scientific rigor and metaphysical reflection, to reveal the limitations and the risks associated with all forms of speaking, writing, and theorizing about literature that depart from rationality and from the belief in the social, cultural, and human meaning of literary science. Georgiev's works should be published and studied over and over again, which is why a selection of them has been put out in two volumes. The first volume includes writings which have been published before as well as previously unpublished material. It does not encompass everything that the publisher would like to put into it because such an enormous amount of text would discourage even the most daring reader.
