The main character of the novel, Margus, is supposed to live an idyllic life in Moscow, being a graduate student with a biology degree, who consistently locks the door of the scientific temple in the most traditional way - he tries to get himself to defend his candidate's thesis and works as a young scientist in the nucleic acids laboratory of the Institute of Biology. You need to do so little to become a proper person, only to slip through the needle's eye of protection and to be politely dressed when visiting a finer bookstore.
Expensive fur coats are hanging in the windows of consignment shops, cash registers are clicking in the record store "Meloodia", the outlook is bright and Puhajarve and Parnu await in the summer. But is this mundane clants-poem life exactly what Margus really wants.
