The popular Israeli martial art of krav maga is closely connected with Bratislava. Already at the beginning of the 20th century, Samuel Lichtenfeld settled in old Prespork - a variety artist, a universal sports coach and, last but not least, a great promoter of the Jiu-Jitsu self-defense system. From 1908, he made full use of his knowledge and skills while working in the city police as a detective. He continued the fight against insidious crime even after the creation of the Czechoslovak Republic in the position of district inspector of the state police. He also led his sons to sports. Thanks to his family background, the younger Imrich was able to excel in wrestling and boxing. It was he who, in the confrontation with the Holocaust in Slovakia, shifted the level of his sporting activity to other spheres - where ordinary citizens are faced with a fight on the street, where there is no referee to consider who is the winner, where it is life. Even before that, however, the young "Imi" Lichtenfeld completed several wrestling matches in the colors of the clubs SK Makkabea and AFK Waldes Praha. He served in the Czechoslovak army at home and in the Middle East, where he arrived after a painful journey on the river tug Pentcho, after a shipwreck and a miraculous rescue.
