The book by Kotandjyan N.G. about Tzgrour Gospel of 974 is the first monographic study and the first publication of miniatures of this wonderful early medieval Armenian book visual arts monument. The author determines the historical meaning of the manuscript for the history of not only Armenian, but also general Christian handwritten culture, as one of the earliest preserved samples of the illustarated Gospels, reveals rare artistic of the decorating the manuscript miniatures and marks the originality of their iconographic varieties. Traces the unusual peculiarities of the very structure of the manuscript keeping the memory of the most ancient stage of the handwritten culture, on the phase of its transmission from rotulus to code.
