The book consists of 45 short articles written by 43 authors. The main idea that guided the authors while working on this publication was the desire to honor selected heroes by presenting them to a wider audience. Some articles are devoted to events or moments of Polish history - most often local - that are worth presenting and discussing from a different, sometimes surprising perspective. The vast majority of texts included in this publication are stories not only about patriotism, but also about a special love of humanity. They talk about Poles' fight for dignity, about their pursuit of truth, about attempts to preserve the surrounding reality for future generations. Each text is devoted to a separate private acquisition from the archives of the Institute of National Remembrance - Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation.
