The monograph is devoted to the history of the population of Samara province / Kuibyshev region / Samara region in the late 19th-mid 20th centuries. The work is based on the analysis of materials from general censuses of the Russian Empire [1897], the USSR and the RSFSR (1920, 1926, 1937, 1939), archival and statistical materials, and documents of current demographic registration of the population. The monograph presents an analysis of the demographic behavior of the region's population (birth rates, mortality rates, age and sex composition, family and marital relations), national and social composition, literacy, and level of education. Particular attention is paid to the impact of demographic catastrophes (wars and famines) on the demographic situation in the region.
