The book summarizes the reports of 14 speakers of the conference "Latvian industry before and after regaining independence" on December 13, 2013: scientists, historians, factory managers and civil servants about what industry was actually like during the USSR and what and why happened after the restoration of independence with these "powerful" factories, why a large part of them stopped working, including the famous VEF.
