Kuzma Sergeevich Petrov-Vodkin (1878-1939) is a Russian and Soviet painter, symbolist, graphic, art theorist, writer, educator and Honored Artist of Russia (1930). The book is dedicated to one of the most interesting works of Petrov-Vodkin – a picture called "Motherhood" (19250). It was created during the heyday of the artist's talent and is one of his famous “peasant” Madonnas.
