Chintolgoi-balgas is a unique monument of town planning in the Khitan Empire of Liao (907-1125). The town was built as a stronghold of the empire in Mongol steppes at the beginning of the Xth century. The book is based on the results of the excavations carried out by the international Russian-Mongolian expedition. It describes material culture of Khitan towns in the Xth – XIth centuries.
