The university textbook Journalistic Genres summarizes knowledge about the journalistic genre system. With a didactic style, it first builds a background of basic knowledge of stylistics. It builds on the definitions and characteristics of the genre as such, common genre categories and individual specific genres. It confronts the Slovak tradition with the theory and practice of other European countries and with the current non-traditional state of journalistic practice. In the second edition, the book is enriched with updated and expanded chapters on English genre, radio, television and online genre, as well as a completely new extensive chapter on current genre trends and innovative genre models. Stylistic and genre theory is enlivened by excursions into the (not only professional) life of some of its actors, into the world of literature or into the texts of today's media.
