The book has been designed in a genre of historical portrait with a focus on contemporary Japanese problems, i.e. its policy, economy, society and culture. The book represents the first collection of sketches about major figures of the post-war Japan that were published in Russia. It describes 12 prominent lives, which are quite interesting all by themselves, but also tell about the Phoenix-like restoration of Japan from the ruins of the World War II.
