Translation. Denial, State Deception, Truth vs. Politicization of History When Turkey demanded that all reports on the Armenian Genocide be canceled at Israel’s first international conference on the Holocaust and Genocides, and that Armenian speakers be banned from participating, the Israeli government did not object to this demand. This book is about the author’s persistent and courageous fight against his own government in defense of freedom of speech. The author not only manages to hold the conference, overcoming censorship, but also presents a true political detective story based on previously classified documents of the Israeli Foreign Ministry. The book also examines in depth Israel’s often unjust and painful stance towards the genocides of other peoples. The figures of Elie Wiesel and Shimon Peres deserve special attention, as they intervened in the process of recognizing the genocides of other peoples, especially the Armenian Genocide. The book also includes special sections by Turkish, Armenian, and Jewish contemporaries: Ragip Zarakoglu, Richard Hovhannisyan, and Michael Berenbaum. Ragip Zarakoglu spent years in Turkish prisons for his stance. Richard Hovhannisyan is one of the first authors on the Armenian Genocide, and Jewish intellectual Michael Berenbaum is responsible for selecting the content for the Holocaust Museum in Washington.
