In conducting this study, we considered the meaningful impact on Japanese culture of each of the three branches of Christianity on the material of the sphere of culture in which this effect manifested itself most clearly. Thus, for example, Orthodoxy had the greatest influence on the development of Japanese temple architecture, iconography and theological terminology; Catholicism - the development of Japanese musical culture and literature, as well as the formation of the Japanese Catholic intellectual elite; Protestantism - on the democratization, development and differentiation of the religious culture of Japan.
