The book was written on the basis of documentary materials from the archives of Federal Security Service devoted to the study of "SMERSH" - the Ninth Division of the KGB that was dedicated to the terror and diversion and was lead by and made up of the most fanatical communists. The hero of the book is a certain intelligencer Maksimov-Kravchenko-Doronin. Is he an officer of the Soviet Intelligence Service, or awarded with four Reich decorations lieutenant of the German SD - SIcherheitsDienst (Security Police)?
