The volume presents the background, course and consequences of the Holocaust in Slovakia. Slovakia was the only one in Europe to carry out the deportation of Slovakian Jews to the death camps voluntarily, relying on its own resources, while paying the German Empire for each deported Jew. The author presents this process by relying on archival and contemporary press sources, as well as the existing literature on the topic, while also addressing the Hungarian aspects on several occasions. In presenting the tragedy of Slovakian Jewry, he does not stop at the end of the war, but deals with the issue of the reintegration of the surviving Jews into society and the resurgence of anti-Semitism in Slovakia after the war.
