The Institute of National Memory published the book that brings to light the persecution by the communist regime of the the rebel army commander General Rudolf Viest's relatives. Dusan Viest Jr., nephew of General Viest, actively participated in the fighting in the Slovak National Uprising. In May 1948, he tried to emigrate with his family, then he was arrested, investigated and sentenced. The publication of his memoirs contributes to a better understanding of the causes and forms of persecution of leading representatives of the anti-fascist resistance and participants in the Slovak National Uprising, who became victims of politically motivated reprisals after the communist regime took over in February 1948.
