The book is compiled from letters of soldiers and officers who participated in the Great Patriotic war. The letters were initially published in “Izvestiya” newspaper in the 1980s, but they were considerably corrected and censored. This book is peculiar for the letters which are not corrected and depict “the truth of life” as well as feelings of narrators.
