Ivana Sojat, from Osijek, rocker, darker, hugger and protector of trees, dogs, the weak, all living things, passionate reader of black chronicles and analyst of psychoses, traumas and clouds, was born in the craziest and shortest month of 1971. Although she began her literary journey with poetry, so far, she has published eight novels (two of which are for young people), five collections of poetry, three collections of short stories, a collection of essays and two picture books for children. I guess in the desire to learn as much as possible about the world, she took part in the war, ironed clothes for others, was a court interpreter in Belgium, rode in a tank and an armored personnel carrier, learned to ride horses, climbed hills, learned fencing, gardening, rowing, fishing, digging in the archives and the earth, hanging out with herbalists, going to the rites by bicycle, singing in rock groups, but also in the opera choir of the Croatian National Theater in Osijek. He currently lives, works and translates from French and English.
