This book is devoted to Latvian police and its heroic struggle for national liberation and independence at the beginning of World War II. It was the main resistance movement to Soviet forces that occupied the country in 1939, and numbered more than 4000 members. Based on archival sources and original materials, the book narrates about mass repressions and serial atrocious murders carried out by representatives of totalitarian regime. The monograph also includes memoirs of the eye-witnesses and the list of 659 policemen arrested and killed in June of 1941.
