The monograph is devoted to the formation and activities of the Hospital Base of the Karelian Front in 1941–1945. The harsh climatic conditions of the Arctic, which influenced both the organization of medical care and the healing of combat wounds, the structure and outcomes of therapeutic diseases, the lack of qualified medical personnel and medical equipment, and other negative features of wartime were overcome by the coordinated work of military and civilian doctors at all levels - from the leaders of the military sanitary service of the front to ordinary doctors and nurses. A special role in this was played by the presence of a medical institute in Arkhangelsk, its activities on staffing rear hospitals with medical personnel and consultants from among professors and assistants.
