The monograph presents an analysis of key aspects of the organization of the modern educational process of teaching the history of the native land in schools of the Russian Federation. In the context of the launched reform of the state educational policy in this area, leading experts from 22 regions of the country, who joined the team of authors, gave reasoned answers to the questions of whether a compulsory lesson in the history of the native land is needed in a modern Russian school; what should be the optimal volume of a separate discipline "History of Our Region" in a modern school and in which grades it should be taught; what should be the structure of the course on the history of the native land, taking into account the need to link this issue with all-Russian history; what are the guarantees and mechanisms for preventing the encouragement of the development of regional identity to the detriment of the all-Russian one within the framework of teaching the discipline "History of Our Region". The monograph identifies and presents the best practices of teaching the history of the native land in different regions of Russia.
