Pogost is one of the oldest settlements in the Soligorsk district. There is no consensus among scholars on the name of the term "Pogost". Only in the Republic of Belarus 8 settlements Pogost. The first explanation for this term is found in the Tale of Bygone Times, which states that "Pogost is a rural tax district in Ancient Russia, introduced by Princess Olga in 947."
