It is the unwritten book of the great art critic Kiril Krustev (1904-1991). He worked on it all his life, his research spanning thousands of pages, but never in one comprehensive study. Years after his death, this was done by Ivo Milev, who read all the archives of Krastev and based on the accumulated materials assembled the overall picture of Bulgarian art from antiquity to the end of the twentieth century.
Ivo Milev collected about 800 images and pictures for the book, and Milena Valnarova put it all together. The editor of the book is Elena Krasteva, for whom neither history nor art is something new. The book also has several scientific editors who have taken different periods from this 528-page edition.
Kiril Krustev (1904-1991) was among the brightest figures in Bulgarian artistic life for nearly seventy years. He graduated in natural sciences from Sofia University in 1930, and later specialized in fine arts in Paris. He began as a poet, but established himself as an essayist, literary critic, publicist and art critic. Among his most popular books are "Memories of the cultural life between the two world wars", "Picasso", "Michelangelo", "Orphan Wanderer" and others.
