The study of the mechanisms of formation of the myths about Genghis Khan is based on the analysis of the corpus of myths, created during the XIIIth century, and presented in over 30 texts. The role of the writers of the nations, incorporated by the Mongolian empire, in the creation of the myths, put into literary form by Persian, Armenian and Chinese historians, is investigated.
