Volume I of Davit Muskhelishvili's "Works" contains the fundamental work "Main issues of historical geography of Georgia", which was originally published in two volumes in 1977 and 1980. The monograph reviews how the centuries-old process of consolidation of the Georgian "countries" took place and what internal reasons led to the formation of the feudal state - "Georgia". In the first part of the paper, this process is discussed from the ancient period to the 5th century, when Vakhtang Gorgasal united the western and eastern territories of Georgia into one kingdom. In the second part, the history of the formation of the feudal monarchy of Georgia is covered. The chronological period of this great political process covers the VI-X centuries.
