This work consists of wonderful monuments from the time of the Mongol Empire, which are kept in the funds of the Hermitage State Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. The museum is one of the major centers of Mongolian Buddhist heritage and unique cultural monuments. These monuments cover important periods in Mongolian history, and this is the first time that the museum has published such a comprehensive work as part of the “Mongolian Heritage in the World” series initiated by the International Mongol Studies Association.
