On March 25, 1942, the author was deported by the first transport from the Slovak state of Ludac to the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, where she survived three years and also the “death march” to the Ravensbruck camp. In the book, she reflects on the dilemmas of camp life and recalls fellow prisoners and ruthless guards. In the section Forgive, but Do Not Forget, she presents articles from the contemporary press, regulations and laws that made it possible to discriminate, deport and subsequently murder the Jewish inhabitants of Slovakia. This edition is published on the occasion of the centenary of her birth. The original text is expanded with the memories of her loved ones and people who collaborated with her.
