The present booklet is meant for thouse who wish to independently explore the ancient Estonian hill-forts and medieval stone castles. It offers routes starting from Tallinn and heading towards different regions of Estonia. The included maps help to arrange specific routes, with the objects mentioned in the booklet marked with red. The order, episcopal and vassal castles are presented quite extensively, whereas only a modest selection has been made of about 120 ancient Estonian hill-forts. The most significant and typical hill-forts introduced in the booklet give a sufficient overview of the relevant field. 7 Trips – 58 castles.
