Fyodor Ivanovich Shaliapin (February 13, 1873 – April 12, 1938) and Sergey
Vasilyevich Rachmaninov (April 2, 1873 – March 28, 1943) are the subject of special pride of Russian art. For the time of the late 19th and the first half of the 20th century, each of them was the pinnacle of world musical art: the first as an opera singer, the second as a composer and pianist. The purpose of the monograph is to provide a consolidated creative portrait of two outstanding figures of Russian culture through a series of essays and articles written by prominent representatives of contemporary art studies.
