A book about one of Bulgaria's greatest actresses, Stoyanka Moutafova (born 1922). Even in her 90s, Moutafova still appears in films and stage plays, and her longevity has become proverbial. She says: "When you are on stage, you sometimes get into a subtle state of mind which is like reaching other worlds. But this is momentary, it goes away. After that you return to the real world, and all you are left with is the yearning to go back 'there'. It is the impossibility of staying in that beautiful world forever (or at least most of the time) that gives rise to our grief." The actress also says: "All I think about is theater. I live for theater. I don't care whether I'll have something to eat tomorrow, what I'm going to wear - I don't care at all! I just hope I stay fit to play, I don't want to lose my sanity... But then again, if you lose your sanity, nothing will matter anymore."
