The new novel "Gloomy Music of Pine-Trees" by the Ukrainian author Valerii Shevchuk is based on true little-known facts of Ukrainian history. The author draws a vivid picture of life of the Ukrainian Uniate Church members at the second half of the XVIIth century. Special attention is paid to the metropolitan K.Zhokhovs'ki and his struggle with the church order of Vasylyi Velyki, which lead to the "church war".
