The book is the reedition of the monumental collection “The alphabetic index to five-verst map of the Caucasian Krai”, which was made up by D.D.Pagirev and included names of all geographical objects of Caucasus (with synonyms) known in the beginning of the XXth century, correlated with their geographical coordinates and other characteristics. Reduction of Pagirev’s index to the modern, user-friendly form was carried out by the known scientist-botanist from St.-Petersburg, the expert on flora of Caucasus Yu. L. Menitsky. All information volume of the index (34000 names) has been kept; only the form of data arrangement is changed as well as the alphabetic order corrected according to requirements of modern orthography.
