This monograph is based on more than 20 years of study of the origins of one of the ancient peoples of Southwest Asia. The book examines the conditions of the emergence of ethnic groups and the formation of their genetic identity, presents the results of genetic testings that shed light on the various hypotheses of the origin of the Armenian people, and reveals the consequences of forced migrations of diasporan Armenian groups and their contacts with other ethnic groups. The author of the book Levon Yepiskoposyan, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Laboratory of Ethnogenomics of the RA Academic Institute of Molecular Biology, underlines the importance of creating “The Genetic Atlas of Historical Armenia” and discusses the role of the factors that ensure the stability of the Armenian gene pool. Introducing a genetic interpretation of several issues, the explanation of which cannot be achieved within the framework of classical Armenology, he aims to help the reader to form an objective idea about the ethnogenesis of Armenians.
