The essay discusses the historiography of the past decade focusing on the historical studies of the XIXth c. Lithuania. The main developments in the field are traced and new ideas are considered. This analytical inquiry is linked to the political, cultural and socio-cultural context of the historical study taking into account the multi-causal dynamics of its change.
