The monograph, based on a variety of written sources, including numerous archival ones, examines the facts, events and processes of the political history of Pomorye (1682-1762), in particular, shows the role of the region in the development of Russian statehood during this period, analyzes the participation of the northern population in the political life of the country under Catherine I, Peter II, Anna Ioannovna, Ivan VI and his mother-regent Anna Leopoldovna, Elizabeth Petrovna and Peter III, as well as the evolution of relations between the state and society, their relationships in the implementation of foreign and domestic policy.
